I have dealt with many home inspectors in Oakville, Burlington, Milton, Mississauga and Georgetown.
All the inspectors I recommend have: all the right qualifications, are very experienced and thorough, and have the ability to inform the buyer or seller clearly and simply on risks, costs, level of importance of and remedies for any flaws found.
Most important, the excellent home inspector knows how to communicate.
All the inspectors whose names I pass on will also know how to advise a buyer to walk away if the costs/issues are excessive.
Every inspector has a different ‘style’ – just as all advisors do, such as real estate agents! I give each client a list of several inspectors to contact -- all of them are ones my clients have been pleased with - often just chatting with them you will figure out which personality suits you.
In my opinion, a home buyer should always get a home inspection. For a home seller, it is a good precaution when the house is older and/or has known flaws that may be costly to repair.
The price is fairly typical from one company to another - it varies depending on the size of the house. Allocate from $350. to $550. for this service.
